Changes at Brownhill

Dear Parents and/or carers

Earlier this year Mr C. Walton the Headteacher at Woodlands Primary Academy informed me that he would be taking up a new role as Headteacher at a primary school in Sheffield from September 2015. The governing body at the school immediately sought applications for the post and followed this up with a further recruitment campaign but unfortunately they were unable to find a suitable candidate.

The governing body at Woodlands asked me to speak to the governors at Brownhill Primary Academy about the possibility of their Headteacher, Mrs G. Winterburn undertaking an executive Headteacher role for the two schools for the next academic year. I am pleased to inform you that the governing body agreed to this request and will formally ratify the decision shortly.

There is still much practical work to agree regarding the new temporary arrangement but I can inform you that Mrs B. Blanchfield will take over day to day leadership of Brownhill and Mrs S. Trussler and Mrs A. Clark will undertake similar duties at Woodlands. I will be meeting key staff and governors at both academies in the next few weeks to assist in establishing the new arrangements.

I am sure you will want me to wish Mr Walton the very best for his new appointment and Mrs Winterburn our encouragement and support as she embarks on her new role.

Best wishes

Frank Norris
